“You Cannot Corrupt Death!” Former Athletics Kenya President Isaiah Kiplagat Dies Of Cancer And KOT Have Zero Chills

‘The evil that men do lives after them the good is oft interred with their bones.’ Looking at the current trend in Kenya you will be forgiven to think that Shakespeare had our online community in mind when he penned those lines.

Just a few days after much of KOT’s and Facebook went ham on the death of Tom Cholmondeley the news of Isaiah Kiplagat’s death has been treated with similar scorn. The former Athletics Kenya President has died after a long battle with cancer and other complications while undergoing treatment. He died at the age of 72.

Isaiah Kiplagat had been removed from office dishonorably following suspension on corruption charges.  Kenyans have been quick to point out these errors and hold it out against his legacy. Many took to twitter to express their disgust at the failing of his administration and refusal to vacate office despite facing so many scandals and calls from different stakeholders to resign. He even has a poll already out to determine his legacy with only one positive as an option.

However, to hold out the last years of his 24 year tenure against him is to be scanty just as those who will give him glowing tributes. This is a man who oversaw the growth of Athletics Kenya from a largely amateur group to the multi-million giant it is now.

He has overseen a number of leaps in the industry and his serves a case of someone who overstayed their welcome. However, even if you are prepared to overlook his achievements, at least in his death you can let the family in this period have their peace.
