With the Kenyan Defence Forces still in Somali, maybe they should forget about flare guns and fire hoses as the the real way to ward off Somali pirates out at sea has been unearthed! The secret? Hit them hard with a blast of Britney Spears!

According to Naval officer Rachel Owens who spoke to Metro, “Her songs were chosen by the security team because they thought the pirates would hate them most. These guys can’t stand western culture or music, making Britney’s hits perfect. As soon as the pirates get a blast of Britney, they move on as quickly as they can.”

The reports add that Britney’s hits, including Oops! I Did It Again and Baby One More Time, are being employed by British naval officers in an attempt to scare off pirates along the East coast of Africa, reports Guardian.

The US police and military were the first to adopt this tactic to stop ocean rioters. The practice worked so well, now cruise ships and navy vessels are also cranking out the hits.

Well, maybe Britney needs to keep the hits coming! The more she sings the further away the pirates are pushed.
