Where Has Olivia Otieno Been All This Time?
Olivia Otieno was a prominent media personality in Kenya for quite a while in the 2000s, then all of a sudden she made a quiet exit from the scene, which was then increasingly evident till Kenyans began asking themselves what really happened to her.
In an interview with Ghafla! recently, the celebrity in her own right finally broke the silence:
Ghafla!: Describe Olivia Otieno in a few words.
Double O: Banging and Swaggy (Miss Mandii and Nick Mutuma) but I’d say that I’m a serious person who knows how to have a good time.
Ghafla!: You had disappeared from Kenyan radio for a while before resurfacing back recently. What were you up to?
Double O: I moved to Canada to study Radio and Television at Ryerson University when I returned I hosted Catwalk Kenya on Mnet then hosted 2 shows on NTV, one which I created and produced. I then went into print with a page in the Daily Metro and a column in The Saturday Nation. I then decided that I needed to try a new avenue and was hired as Sales and Marketing Manager for Tribe Hotel.
Ghafla!: You were a radio anchor for a long time. What motivates you to do this every day? Especially in a male dominated society?
Double O: Who doesn’t want to get paid to TALK that TALK, male or female?
