Waiguru responds to Karua’s gubernatorial candidature
Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has welcomed the entry of Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua in the Kirinyaga governorship race.
Waiguru, said Karua was free to join the race, and exuded confidence of defeating her and all the other aspirants vying for the position during the next elections next year.
she said during an interview with Citizen Digital.
On Tuesday, Karua declared she will vie for the Kirinyaga governor’s seat and appeared to revel in the huge online support urging her to compete with former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
Waiguru, in April this year, announced that she will be in the ballot seeking to become the first female governor in the country.
Karua has in recent months been keeping many guessing on which political seat she will be gunning for in the upcoming elections.
Last month she had hinted at her supporters in Mombasa that she may vie for the presidency in 2017.
Karua came sixth during the 2013 presidential elections when she ran on a Narc-Kenya ticket.
The Kirinyaga gubernatorial race is shaping up to be a titanic battle which also features Kenya’s ambassador to the United States Njeru Githae, Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari, and Businessman Bedan Kagai.
They are all seeking to unseat the incumbent Joseph Ndathi who has declared he will defend his seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
