Of late I have heard alot of media personalities discuss Ghafla. But while I respect Ciru Muriuki who made it an open conversation that involved members of my team, I have no respect for radio presenters who lack the spine to mention Ghafla by name before they attack me or Ghafla. And why was Cindy all about her diatribe and bile today morning (aside from her usual breakfast of haterade that is)? Well…

Apparently Ghafla has been putting high school girls on the site and she is vehemently against that. Yeah, just like I am vehemently against the poaching of unicorns in Utopia for their magical farts. But more on none existent and ill informed qualms and pet peeves later. Cindy Ogana just like very many myopic individuals is angry that Ghafla has alot of “socialites” whose only claim to fame is getting naked on the internets.

My response to that? Please contact the nearest internet police division or the closest morality police department and file a report! Ghafla must be stopped! How dare Ghafla expose young women? How dare we give the Huddahs and Veras a platform? How dare we give Pendo a platform? I only brought up these 3 because they were mentioned by name.

I seem to be getting on her and everyone else last nerve. But truth is, your opinions are as irrelevant to how Ghafla is run as my opinions about the tribal humour you love. Talking about Luo this blah blah blah is as disgusting to me as our “socialites” are to you. Putting Vera Sidika down for her 450,000/- weave doesn’t make you seem like a more conscious woman, it makes you seem like a bitter Betty.
The one thing I will agree with her on however (even the devil is not without merit) is that this is a societal issue. And the issue from my perspective is “Why does sex sell?”

Ghafla is a business entity. Period. “Hii hapana shamba yako!” We do not “grow” things for your pleasure as you would if this were your “farm”. Ghafla is merely about a little principle called “Demand and Supply”. You might have heard about a small company called Google. They use that principle. You might also have heard of a small radio show called “Maina and King’ang’i In The Morning” that eclipses yours. That is the principle that made them such a phenomenon. “Sisi hapana tambua tastes za Cindy Ogana”.
