Signs of the Apocalypse: Landslides Damage Kabale-Katuna Road
The rains in Uganda always come with a lot to worry about. Following a heavy downpour over the weekend, the Kabale-Katuna road was damaged because of the landslides. This left a lot of vehicle users, and passengers pralysed and stranded, as the incident occurred at around 1am following heavy rainfall since Thursday. Part of the road which was however still being used by light traffic, has also started developing cracks.
ALLEN KAGINA VISITS THE SITE OF THE DAMAGED ROAD
Uganda Police have therefore taken action and issued warning signs to redirect all the road users. All the traffic has therefore been sent to the newly completed Ntungamo-Mirama Hills road to connect to Rwanda. The Uganda National Roads Authority Boss, Allen Kagina has communicated when she visited the site, that the damages on this road will be repaired.
“There are a lot of heavy rains and the network is experiencing some challenges. My intervention is not a small one. We might have to bring in a contractor. We have an alternative road through Ntungamo-Mirama Hills. In the meantime, we don’t want motorist traffic on this road,” she mentioned.
The regulation of traffic is to prevent other parts of the road from being damaged the same way.
