Bus Fares Climb Up Due to Fuel Tax
Last week I was astonished, when I arrived at the Bus Park and could not travel for the price I used to previously. There was an additional five thousand shillings, I was meant to add, according to the adjustment. Having made an inquiry, I was let to know that all this was attributed to the Fuel Tax.
In a meeting of the executive committee of the United Bus Owners Association (UBOA) at their offices in Kampala, it was decided that all companies will effect a uniform increment of Shs5,000 for those traveling from Kampala to other destinations around the country.
“Bus owners and operators cannot manage to keep the transport fares normal because they have started feeling the pinch of the increment on fuel prices. We hope that the customers will bear with us,” The UBOA Chairperson, Nathan Banyimbi told the Daily Monitor some weeks back.
So for all those planning to move around this month, Carry that extra cash in your pocket.
