Kenyans on social media were not a happy lot when the trend #1000waystodieinKenya became abused by a cross section of ‘tweeps’ from around the globe and in a remarkable turn of events, in just under an hour managed to circumnavigate the trend, coming up with a more positive one titled – #1000ReasonstoBelieveInKenya.

The emanated from the tweet of one Asif Khan @Asayf on Twitter, who was amused by the complaints of @Ngendo87 and told her if she was disatisfied with the trend that showed Kenya in bad light, she should come up with a counter to it. And she did! In spectacular fashion…. Here’s the tweet:

At the time of this post, #1000ReasonsToBelieveinKenya was the number one GLOBAL trending topic on Twitter with scores of patriotic and proud Kenyans revving and drumming up even more support for the trend. I do believe we have a new record for the quickest counter response by Kenyans on Twitter to a globally trending topic.
