This Award Winning Gospel Artiste Will Give You a Copy of His Album if You Give Him a Sanitary Pad

26 year old Gospel singer Silas is a man of many firsts. He’s the first Gospel artiste signed to Kenya’s leading record label, Ogopa Deejays; he’s the first Gospel artiste to have their album done by Ogopa and he’s also the first Kenyan Gospel singer to do a collabo with the Mary Mary sisters.

And Silas is far from being done. Just a few weeks before he releases his much anticipated album, the US-based Gospel singer has announced that he will not be selling the album. Instead, he will be giving away free copies of the album in exchange for sanitary towels.

You must be wondering what he wants to do with the pads.

Well, 2 years ago, the award-winning Gospel singer launched a charity foundation, My land My Life, aimed at supporting girls from poor families in remote areas in Meru regions by distributing sanitary towels and underwear.

“Perfoming in various schools in Meru region, I personally witnessed the need for this vital commodity. Many of these girls skipped school and Church on Sundays during at that time of the month as they could not afford sanitary towels. Some used pieces of old clothes and others even used chicken feathers! Some girls have never even seen or used sanitary towels in their lives,” reveals a disturbed Silas.

“Out of my pocket I bought a few cartons of sanitary towels and distributed to them. I have always used my own money since then from to run this project because I was really touched.”

 Even though he admits that it’s not easy, Silas is gratified that he’s helping someone. It’s for this reason that he has decided to give all the proceeds from his debut album, Hakuna Matata, to this noble cause.

“All my fans who don’t have liquid cash but have sanitary towels will all have a copy my debut album. I will exchange my ‘HAKUNA MATATA’  album with a sanitary pad.
