There’s a New Boss for Film Industry

Kenya Film Commission (KFC) has announced the appointment of Ms. Lizzie Chongoti as Chief Executive Officer. She succeeds Caroline Kittur who has been CEO in acting capacity for 5 months now.

Lizzie returns to the Company as CEO effective June 5th, 2014. She worked with KFC as the Head of Programmes from October 2008 to October 2010, during which time she acted as CEO for a period of ten months. Lizzie has over twenty years’ experience developing and implementing successful programmes with recognized personal strengths in strategic thinking and leadership having worked at the helm of International, Government and Non-Governmental Organizations.

As CEO, Ms. Chongoti will direct all film development, marketing services, financing, and general office management activities. “I’m excited to be returning to KFC and honored to be leading such a talented group of people at such an exciting time for the commission as we continue to grow and remain always adaptable, motivated, responsive and open to new ideas”, said Lizzie.

As the national body on film marketing matters, the commission has been keen to get in new blood that can champion its pursuit to ensure that the film industry is devolved to all 47counties and thereby establishing county level KFC offices to promote devolved filmmaking and the associated economic benefits.
