The XYZ Show, Boniface Mwangi & Cartoonists Come Together for a Festival
The XYZ Show, Boniface Mwangi’s Picha Mtaani and leading Kenyan cartoonists will take the public on an artistic journey of reflection and action as Kenyans prepare to vote in the March General Elections.
The initiative is in partnership with InformAction, a not-for-profit human rights organization which focuses on civil rights to encourage action, understanding and the desire for real change.
Dubbed Kesho Imefika, the citizen festival on elections and leadership will take place between 28th January and 1st February at the Alliance Francaise. Entrance is free.
Issues of unity and diversity will be addressed by critical eyes and voices: through the films of InformAction, live performances and exhibitions of editorial cartoons and Picha Mtaani photographs. Artists and commentators tackle corruption and impunity, land issues and reform, governance and leadership, and engage Kenyans in the urgent need to demand political and social accountability.
All films will be followed by audience discussions moderated by Maina Kiai, former Chairman of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission and UN Special Rapporteur on the Freedom of Assembly and of Association.
