The Struggle Is Real! Former Churchill Comedian Busted Live On TV Conning Individuals and Companies (Video)
Comedians both stand up and on sitcoms are quite an unfortunate lot.
Unlike most other professions that come with the same level of exposure, their fame does not reciprocate to an equally lucrative career. Indeed only after quite some time, do they get to earn salaries able to sustain their expected lifestyles while very few make it to the money leagues. It is thus no surprise that many get caught up in money scandals.
However, the recent case by former Churchill Live Comedian Wagithomo is a case of well planned con plot that only came unstuck as the parties involved outreached themselves. Wagithomo had been fleecing individuals and only when an international company came into picture did many of the names he was riding on become aware of his plot.
You will remember Wagithomo from his days at Churchill love with his Mkorino act. He had set up a casting and TV company called Dream Cast and had operating offices complete with a receptionist and all trappings of an office.
The ploy was simple preying on the numerous Kenyans brimming with the confidence of their talent waiting to be ‘discovered’ and the entrepreneurship sprit of small business enterprises looking of their big break.
That he was only discovered when an international company noticed an infringement of its copyright material speaks of both the sleekness of his execution as well as the failure of individuals and institutions to police the use of their brands. Here is the plot as unraveled by NTV’s Dennis Okari
