The Circle Flops!
i have often heard it said that event organizing is a rather hard gig. from what I hear, the first rule of event organising is that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Try as you might to have every last detail on lock, sometimes chaos rules the roost.
But there is no shame in having everything go south yet you had planned for everything. But that is only if you had taken care of everything. And that wasn’t the case with The Circle.
The event which was formerly associated with Bernard Kioko was taken over by one Roberta, formerly an artist and talent manager at Ogopa. Anyway, the event seemed to have been rushed. There were no media partners nor was there any form of marketing whether organic or otherwise.
Actually, we at Ghafla were shocked to hear it was on. It seemed alot like a shotgun wedding than an event that just months prior was able to attract anywhere north of 1,000 people. The event was billed as the club edition of The circle and was held at Tree House.
Only 10 people turned up. They hadn’t reached a wider audience because the marketing was poorly handled.
But Roberta from all accounts is a strong woman and I doubt that she will be deterred. She understands that sometimes this is what happens in business. Next time I am sure she will get everything right.
