The 5 Interesting Showbiz Beefs That will make This Year Interesting
2016 has started on a rather high note with almost everyone on a no chills mode. There are those who have already picked their targets and are not letting them go. Here are five interesting rivalries to watch out for;
Pendo and Vera Sidika
The cast members of Nairobi Diaries rarely get along and they are as different as two people can be. Pendo started the beef here and when the exchange continued covertly and overtly, it quickly escalated to a catfight that saw get medical attention. It is interesting because it has seen quite a crowd form in each camp and at least it is actionable…add the fact that they are co stars with their different backgrounds and personalities there is no lack for drama.
Bahati vs Willy Paul
These two should just fight out, or a free they will be eternal enemies or really just compete on all fronts, the audience will decide. They both have very loyal fans in sizeable numbers. They have so much similarity yet you can never find two people so incompatible. The fact that they are among the most consistent gospel artistes, makes their beef pretty relevant since it is always a comparison of who can do better. This is one that will bore you to death but you will still follow.
Prezzo vs Jaguar
Two people who attained fame in different ways but all with the same ability to get attention, pull stunts and floss. Prezzo is the guy who has stuff and attention come effortlessly and keeps shitting on it but he will stay relevant even with one song in two years. Jaguar is the rags to riches poster boy f Kenyan music. His music may be auto-tuned and too repetitive for your like but he will still sell and have traction especially how with a foundation and parastatal job and powerful friends. This makes for an interesting battle for balls.
Joho vs Sonko
The battle for the moneyed fellows with different styles to do their politics is sure set to light up 2016. They may have only had one public spat but given Joho’s position as deputy party leader and Sonko’s as Jubilee’s utmost defender, they will sure have many more. The abusive nature they allowed their rhetoric to sink is sure not to be forgotten by such proud individuals. Then you have the city pride Nairobi and Mombasa each with its main significances and the rivalry just becomes sweeter.
Artists vs MCSK
It may have taken some time and many ignored protest but finally, the issue has taken shape. It is not a rivalry as such given the relationship between artists and MCSK and the role the body has to play. However, given the demands and the reluctance to meet them and open up on the royalties issue, there is a standoff and one likely to play out for a long period. Elani may have spoken but it remains to be seen whether MCSK top heads would listen. The silence by some of the leading artists’ means there is likely to be no change.
Many of the above rivalries are not going to end soon but that’s make for interesting days to come. Lets keep the bile flowing.
