That Little Issue of Nyeri County Spending Ksh 800,000 to buy Underwear for Young Boys you Probably Missed

Just when you thought the odd county budget items seems to be a forgotten issue, another county emerges with one more.

This time it is in Nyeri County where for some reason most likely in an effort to remember the boy child does exist, the county government has come up with a new policy. This time instead of just the girl child being the recipient of goodies in form of sanitary pads, the boy child will get under pants.

In making the announcement, the Nyeri County Chief Special Programs Officer Beth Karimi said the plan targets all primary school boys in the county and will cost 800,000 KES. The aim is to enable the boys improve their sanitation and encourage them to shower. It may have the best intentions but many are questioning the logistics and whether the effort will actually see an improvement in hygiene.
