Kenya Defense Force (KDF) is upgrading its arsenal and they have settled on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) as a weapon of choice against the bad guys.
Business Daily says Kenya is purchasing a Kes 1 billion drone dubbed ‘ScanEagle’ from the United States to combat terrorism.
Business Daily got the scoop from Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri) which shed light on the Kenya-US weapons trade.
ScanEagle will be deployed to carry out intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations against Al Shabaab terrorists.
The drone is fitted with infrared cameras with night vision capabilities which can capture still and moving images and relay them back to control centers.
ScanEagle is usually launched in the air using a catapult launcher and recovered using recovery equipment that snatches the drone in flight.
