Student Jailed For Abusing President Uhuru Has Been Released

The Moi University student jailed for two years for abusing and disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta over the December Holiday has been set free at last.

Allan Wadi alias Lieutenant Wadi made headlines late last year when he launched a scathing attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of unprintable things and calling him unpalatable words.

The government launched a man hunt for Wadi and was allegedly nabbed as he tried to cross border into Uganda.

He was arraigned in court and sentenced to a 2-year jail term to many of his friends and students’ consternation.

The Moi University political science student has spent the better half of the year behind bars, but finally efforts to set him free have paid off after his appeal was accepted by the Milimani Law courts.

Among those who have been pushing to have Wadi released is blogger Robert Alai and Dikembe Disembe, a former Moi University student leader and friend to Wadi.

Upon his conviction, many believed that Wadi was not given a fair trial and this greatly angered those who sided with him. They claimed that his conviction was rushed and the government was determined to see him behind bars even after he admitted and apologized to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Students at Moi University have received the news of Wadi’s released with joy and are ready to welcome him back to the institution to complete his undergraduate studies.
