Stations on Which You Can Tune in to the New Shuga Radio Series

Kenya may remember the concept of drama broadcast on radio thanks to the 80s and 90s broadcasts on Voice of Kenya and KBC Radio. Well, after a long hiatus, radio drama is back with a big bang in the form of Shuga Radio, a series that will span 12 weeks and is the follow-up to the hugely successful television drama Shuga: Love Sex and Money.

Shuga Radio surrounds the life of a 19-year old girl, Sofia, who faces tough choices in her life, from leaving her family and village to going to her long lost love in the city of Kisumu and falling for its temptations… or not.

The underlying theme of this initiative, pieced together by MTV and UNICEF is HIV awareness, in a part of the world that experiences a high prevalence rate but with an increasingly knowledgeable populace willing to meet the global target of zero new infection rates, in line with the UNAIDs agenda.

The radio drama is a gripping tale, with each of the episodes averaging about 8 minutes of broadcast. If missed, you can catch up on your favourites on the MTV Shuga website: Shuga.TV.
