Sonko Dashes To The Rescue Of Striking Teachers With A VERY Generous Monetary Offer
Sonko Rescue Team could have been disbanded but that doesn’t mean the bighearted Nairobi Senator has been impeded from continuing with his philanthropy.
The prevailing teachers’ strike has continued paralyzing learning in all public and recently, private schools. With no solution in the horizon, Sonko has moved in to offer teachers something worthwhile.
Believe it or not, the generous lawmaker is offering teachers half of his salary just to make sure they go back to classes.
“I’m ready for a 50% salary cut in order to pay our teachers. I’ll file a motion in Senate for 50% salary cut for Senators and other highly paid officers.” Wrote Sonko.
But how much does a Senator earn? According to the pay structure Salaries and Remuneration Commission published in 2013, Senators are among the highest paid persons in the country.
The figure was Kes Sh740,927. That means Sonko is offering to give teachers 370k or better, earn the same amount a month.
One thing though, how many Senators do you know will allow their salaries to be trimmed?? Sonko surely has a mountain to climb before his proposal see the light of the day.
