Singer Hits Out at Women Who Wear Weaves in His Lupita Nyong’o Praise Song
I once heard someone says that most Black men don’t care about weaves…In my mind didn’t agree with him till I listened to his explanation.
“If you tricked the average Black man and asked him if he liked weaves he would say “No” because it’s the politically correct thing to say and weaves represent fake hair. If you came back the next day and asked the same man to quickly name 5 Black women he finds beautiful in 10 seconds, 4 out of 5 of those women would have a weave or wear weaves on occasion…It’s important to ask this question with a timer, so the person can’t think about his choices which means it comes from his subconscious mind.”
O-Mae
Whether he’s right or wrong is debatable. However, one thing is for sure: most urban Kenyan men are against their women wearing weaves and instead prefer them with their natural hair.
Well, an upcoming rapper has lashed out Kenyan women who wear weaves in his latest single, Lupita Nyong’o. He praises Lupita for her flawless natural beauty, sense of fashion and success as he takes shot at weave-wearing and skin-bleaching ladies.
O-Mae raps, “Wengine waki-bleach ye anastay black, wengine na manywele za farasi…”
The song has quickly caught fire in Nairobi and was one of the most downloaded jams on Mdundo.com.
