Shock as Capital FM Goes Off Air

Capital FM presenters will have to make due with alfresco operations today following a glitch on the radio station’s operating desk which caused a transmission lock down. Listeners of the radio station’s ‘Capital in the Morning’ show were shocked as the station abruptly went off air earlier today.

The station’s presenters have been transmitting LIVE from Studio C which happens to be the mobile van that doubles up as a communications hub for 98.4 Capital FM especially during coverage of events. The van has been stationed outside International Life House, a buidling which belong’s to the station’s owner Industrialist Chris Kirubi, on Mama Ngina street at the heart of the city.

Transmission equipment for any radio station is very sensitive and thus any minor interruption or malfunction would result in operations halting or not at optimum efficiency. Technicians are looking into the matter so that operations may resume as normal back in the studio.

There had been rife speculation on the internet as to the reason why Capital FM had taken its operations to the OB van, with rumours that there had been a fire at the 19th floor offices of the station at Lonrho House which caused the roof to cave in on the studios as others said it was merely a fire scare.

Today’s ‘The Jam’ show with Cess Mutungi and Maqbul will also be broadcast ‘out in the open’ from the mobile van.
