Trevor Noah Speaks On His Close Bond With Will Smith
Trevor Noah was on the set of US talk show Good Morning America, where he talked about his latest Netflix special among other topics.
He also talked about his strong bond with actor Will Smith.
“Will Smith has been someone who’s become a friend and a mentor in life. I grew up watching him and loving him,” Trevor told hosts Michael Strahan and Sara Haines. He joked about the fact that he calls Will up every now again just to make sure that it’s really him.
In the interview, Trevor spoke about how Lupita Nyong’o was chosen to play his mother in the upcoming film adaptation of his memoir, Born A Crime.
“Lupita was on the set of Black Panther. She was reading my book, which I didn’t even know she had, and then she calls me and she goes: ‘Hey Trevor, it’s Lupita’. I said: ‘Hey Lupita, how you doing?’ And then she goes: ‘I want to be your mom’.”
Lupita loved his book so much that she had offered to play his mother in the movie. “I was like: ‘But there is no movie’. She’s like: ‘There is now’,” he went on say.
