The Beckhams shaken after attempted burglary in their home
The Beckhams were left shaken after 3 people tried to break in their mansion in Oxfordshire, CCTV footage of three masked men attempting to break in has left them shaken.
According to reports by the Daily Mail,
Victoria (44) in particular is said to be shocked by how close the burglars came to gaining access to the house and violating the family’s privacy.
David (43) is upset too because the state-of-the-art security he’s introduced to safeguard the property wasn’t enough to discourage the masked men.
The mansion, worth about £6 million (R117 million), is one of a number of properties the couple own and they enjoy spending weekends there with one or all of their children – Brooklyn (19), Romeo (16), Cruz (13) and Harper (7).
The Beckhams are on a family holiday in Australia, where they’ll attend the Invictus Games, an initiative of Prince Harry.
Since the weekend break-in attempt, additional security measures have been put in place, including regular patrols and guard dogs.
Prince Harry and Meghan have a weekend home in the same area, at Great Tew Estate, where they’ve reportedly signed a two-year lease.
The Beckhams’ other neighbours include disgraced Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson and former British prime minister David Cameron.
Nearby Soho Farmhouse – the hotel and country club where Meghan held her hen party – is a favourite haunt of celebrities like model Kate Moss, actors George Clooney and Eddie Redmayne and model/actress Cara Delevingne.
Police were apparently called to the Beckhams’ property last Friday when their 24-hour security guards spotted the three intruders on CCTV. Guests at Soho Farmhouse saw the masked burglars too and scared them off.
The men had positioned a ladder against a wall at the house and tried to peer into the upstairs windows before they fled. Hearing this reportedly had Victoria very upset, as she finds it frightening that someone could be intruding on the family’s personal space, Daily Mail reports.
No arrests have been made.
