Social media sensation and Motsweding FM DJ Lara Kruger dies

Lara Kruger is dead.

SABC confirmed they were informed of her death on Wednesday morning.

PR firm Royal Brand Engineers, confirmed her death too.

Cause of death

The details surrounding Kruger’s death however, still remain unclear. Sources say she was hospitalised for depression at the time of her death.

Since December, she had been hospitalised twice in a span of one week. On 15 December, she spoke about being depressed, and even spoke about her funeral.

Kruger, was born as Thapelo Lehuleri, a man. However, from an early age she always identified with being a woman.

“I identify as a woman from a social level. I live my life like a women on a day-to-day basis. But in terms of my ID, my driver’s licence and matric certificate and all those documentations of life, unfortunately they do still say male. Because the process (of gender transformation) in our country is not as easy as one may think it is,” Kruger said in a past interview.
