Prince Philip recovering well after successful hip replacement operation
Prince Philip is currently recovering after undergoing a successful hip replacement operation on Wednesday.
He is likely to spend several days at the King Edward VII Hospital in London, according to Buckingham Palace.
“He is progressing satisfactorily at this early stage,” the statement said. It added that Philip is comfortable and in good spirits.
In recent weeks, Philip had complained of hip pain. He had even missed the Easter church service with the royal family.
He needed surgery because he had ostearthritis.
Public service retirement
He retired from public service in August 2017, and is the longest-serving consort of a reigning British monarch.
