Meghan Markle makes first public appearance with the Queen

Meghan Markle made her first public appearance with Queen Elizabeth II, at the Commonwealth Day service on Monday.

The day is held annually to celebrate the alliance of the 53 countries including Australia, which make up the Commonwealth. The service took place at Westminster Abbey. More than 2,000 guests were in attendance.

Her appearance marks yet another milestone towards joining the British monarch family.

On arrival at the abbey, Harry and Meghan were welcomed with shouts and screams from members of the public.

In attendance too was Prince William and his wife Kate.

Meghan was dashing in a navy mid-length dress with an Amanda Wakeley white coat, a Stephen Jones beret and navy blue clutch.

Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Queen Elizabeth followed behind. The Queen’s husband, 96-year-old Prince Philip, has retired from public life and did not attend.

Other guests

Other guests included British Prime Minister Theresa May and Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn as well as the high commissioners from the Commonwealth countries accredited in London.
