Michelle Obama meets 2 year old girl awestruck by her portrait

Michelle Obama got to meet the 2 year old girl who was awestruck by her portrait.

A photo went viral last week of how 2 year old Parker Curry stared at Michelle Obama’s portrait. This was at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

During the unveiling of the portrait, Michelle said: “I’m also thinking about all of the young people, particularly girls and girls of colour, who, in years ahead, will come to this place and they will look up and see an image of someone who looks like them hanging on the wall of this great American institution.”

Michelle then reached out to the family and asked to meet the girl.

She shared a video of their time together writing: “I’m so glad I had the chance to meet you today (and for the dance party)! Keep on dreaming big for yourself… And maybe one day I’ll probably look up at a portrait of you!”
