Watch: Frances McDormand’s alleged Oscar thief video surfaces
The Associated Press captured a video of the man who stole Frances McDormand’s Oscar award. He was seen walking out of the official Academy Awards after-party.
The video was taken on Sunday night. In the video, a man in a tuxedo who appears to be Terry Bryant is holding an Oscar statuette proudly. An onlooker cheers.
He walks quickly and nearly bumps into a woman. Then he quickly glances around him before walking out of frame. The entire time, he is holding the Oscar.
Bryant is said to have had a ticket for the ball. The Oscar was returned to McDormand, who told security to release the man.
McDormand won the Oscar for her performance as grieving mother Mildred Hayes in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Criminal record
Bryant has a criminal record including burglary, assault and car theft.
He remains in custody on $20,000 bail.
