In September last year, Xolani Gwala revealed that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer. He was thus going to be off air to deal with his health.
His is now in good spirits and 702 is even hopeful of having him back.
“Xolani is in remission and is back at home recovering from his last operation. We are all looking forward to having him back on the station once he has recovered.”
His friend, Redi Tlhabi also revealed that he was doing well in his fight against the disease.
“(His) previous operation went very well. But remember it’s not a sprint but an ultramarathon… There are a few more steps ahead. But I promise you… Xolani is exceeding all expectations‚” she said on Twitter.
Gwala had surgery to remove a tumour and has been in chemotherapy since last year.
In a previous interview, he revealed that he was not ready to die yet and his family is his inspiration to fight.
