Rio Olympics Madness: Julius Yego’s Ticket Goes Missing, Fellow Athletes Refuse To Board The Plane, KQ Forced To Bend Its Flight Rules… See The Crazy Drama That Happened At JKIA On Sunday
Drama yesterday unfolded at JKIA as the third batch of Kenyan athletes heading to Rio for 2016 Olympics were about to depart. Javelin champion claims someone is sabotaging Team Kenya!
No one flies a commercial flight without air ticket, but yesterday Kenya Airways was forced to bend this rule for the sake of Team Kenya.
So yesterday Julius Yego arrives at JKIA with fellow athletes ready to board the plane to Angola to connect a flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for 2016 Olympics.
But interestingly National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) officials didn’t have air ticket for him. In a show of solidarity, fellow athletes decided not to board the plane without Yego.
The Rio bound athletes remained marooned at JKIA for hours as NOCK officials ran up and down trying to fix their mess.
Thankfully KQ decided to bend standard flight rule to allow the YouTube athlete to board the plane to Luanda, Angola without air ticket.
Yego has since confirmed he landed in Rio safely.

Meanwhile the drama didn’t start at JKIA, apparently athletes and NOCK have been pushing each other back and forth in regards to flying to Rio.
In his post on Facebook on August 5th, Julius Yego was grumbling about how his coach was being forced to leave for Rio a week after he (Yego) had pitched camp in Brazil.
“Is someone really trying to sabotage the results of team Kenya at Rio!!Am reading mischieve on how the management of the team is being run,the sprinters left last Sunday and their coaches were left behind,very irresponsible and funny way ! Now my coach is been told he is not traveling till the 14th and am leaving on Sunday ,that means he will arrive a day before I get to the field !ridiculous !! Who is who now !!when I was a class prefect I wouldn’t vein class when the students are away after all who will I be representing!! This issue arouse in London in 2012 some officials arriving towards closure of the games !! For sure I can’t imagine being alone less my coach in training in Olympic it’s a big torment that requires athlete well preparedness, to be at high level of mindset of which without a coach it’s impossible for the athlete to achieve !! Can the govt rescue he ‘Top of the world’ repetition before it’s a story !! Bogus top management and pretense !!” Yego protested.
