REVEALED: Police Dining With Imenti Central MP Despite Being Accused Of Raping A Journalist…And They Lie He Has Been In Custody

It has been revealed that police are dining with Gideon Mwiti Irea, the Imenti Central MP at the centre of a rape scandal facing him, despite efforts to have the legislator face charges over the allegations.

According to The Nation newspaper, high ranking police officers are believed to lie to Kenyans that Mwiti has been in police custody since the accusations surfaced. Instead, the MP is said to dine with the police officers as they give him tight security in the name of carrying out investigations.

It is believed that the day police said Mwiti was spending his night behind bars he was actually having dinner with a high ranking police officer who is part of the investigating team and later went home.

The Nation reports: Records show that on Monday, when he is alleged to have spent the night at Parklands Police Station, there were only two suspects locked up at the station. An equal number was held at Gigiri Police Station, which is investigating the case. None of those suspects was the MP.

On Tuesday, he was dramatically taken to the Government Chemist under tight security escort and was driven away at the back of a police vehicle, sandwiched between two officers. As soon as he left Kenyatta National Hospital, he was set free and escorted by the officers to Boulevard Hotel in the city centre.

This comes as female MPs and the general public mount pressure on the authorities to speed the investigation and bring the perpetrator to book.

The August House has been brought into disrepute lately following sexual assault and rape scandals. The MPs themselves admitted the other day that they are ashamed of their actions.
