Rebel Wiper leaders snob summons to appear before disciplinary committee

Rebel Wiper leaders on Saturday snubbed summons to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee to investigate their conduct.
The leaders cited short notices as the main cause why they failed to appear before the committee.
Through their lawyers, the leaders said that the notices were not delivered on time.
The party agreed to adjourn the hearing to November 24 when the rebel leaders will be expected to appear in person where they will be quizzed and be given a chance to explain why the party should not expel them and declare their seats vacant.
The leaders had sent their lawyers to represent them at the Wiper offices in Nairobi’s Lavington.
The leaders include Machakos Governor and Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua, MPs John Munuve (Mwingi North), Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), Katemi Makenga (Kaiti), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni) and Robert Mutemi (nominated).

Last week, Wiper Secretary-General Hassan Omar Hassan said the seven had violated electoral and party regulations and that Wiper would write to the Registrar of Political Parties and Speaker of the National Assembly to expel them and declare their seats vacant, paving the way for by-elections.
The disciplinary committee is headed by lawyer Haroun Ndubi and its members are Lillian Omondi, Mutheu Muna, Abubakar Yusuf and Jacob Mutula.
in September put on notice the rebel who defected to the Jubilee party, saying that they must brace themselves for  by-elections.
Musyoka said a by-election must be conducted in all the five constituencies in Ukambani whose representatives had shifted loyalty to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, the defiant MPs dared Musyoka to expel and subject them to by-elections and declared they would not allow themselves to be intimidated by anyone for working closely with the government for the betterment of their constituents.
