Rabbit is Now an Ambassador for a Youth Expression Initiative

Tubonge is an initiative culminated by the need to overcome the inadequacy for the youth to express themselves. This is an initiative driven by the youth, for the youth and by the language they subscribe to.

Tubonge is a sheng word meaning ‘let’s talk’ thus indicating the letter and spirit of the initiative. The initiative is divided into three sections in order to adequately serve the interest of the youth in different levels;

1. Tubonge (freestyle) for the youth outside learning institutions, mainly the streets where most youths hang around.
2. Tubonge (safari katika) for the youth in high school where dance has been used to bring the young together for a platform to air views.
3.Tubonge (poetry edition) for the youth in tertiary learning institution mainly the universities and colleges.

Tubonge believes talking is the genesis of curbing the besetting vices that hinders youth development.

The initiative hopes to provide a platform for the youth to voice out their experience, views, challenges freely through the medium they fathom best and provide youth tailored solutions to the challenges they face in their day-to-day life.

Rabbit a.k.a Kaka Sungura is the ambassador of the project. He has a following in the target area mostly because of his poetic delivery of material. He also applies to the project for most of his works, talks the youth language and they relate. The rapper who won a Ghafla! poll as the best rapper also resumed his Kenyan music tour.

The first four institutions the crew will visit are:

1. Mount Kenya University
2. Nairobi Institute of Business Studies
3. Kenya College of Accounts University
4. Thika Institute of Business Studies

The theme of the month of February will be; Tubonge Peace and the first school will be Tuesday 12th at the KCA University from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
