President Uhuru Gives Critics The Green Light To Pull Down His Portraits On Walls In Business Premises And Public Offices
Those who don’t feel the need to display President Uhuru Kenyatta’s portraits in their business premises or offices can gladly do so without any fear, the state won’t victimize anyone!
Siaya Governor, Cornell Rasanga, sparked a raging debate a fortnight ago at Jaramogi Odinga Oginga University when he said all Cord Governors should replace president Uhuru’s portraits with that one of Raila Odinga.
Speaking during 22nd and 1st anniversaries of Raila’s father and son respectively, Rasanga said hanging of Raila’s portraits was a show of support for the Cord leader.
The leader of majority in parliament, Aden Duale, however differed with Rasanga saying Uhuru’s portraits must stay.
In a new twist of events, the president through the State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu, said no one was compelled to continue with the colonial era practice.
The Kenyan constitution also doesn’t stipulate any requirement demanding Kenyans to display the president’s portrait in business premises or in public offices.
So basically you are free to do as you wish with that president Uhuru’s portrait hanging on your wall!
