Plot Thickens: Artist Who ‘Killed’ His Daughter Also Started the Rumour about Fred Omondi’s HIV Status

It seems that Maleek a.k.a. Moses Kamunya Odhiambo, he who not long ago ‘killed off’ his young daughter on Facebook all for fame and money, has a knack for jumping from controversy to controversy.

Now if you remember well in April, Eric Omondi’s younger brother and fellow stand-up comedian, Fred Omondi was rumoured to be in a serial sexual relationships with different girls and that he was HIV positive, allegations that saw three of his shows, each worth 150,000, cancelled.

The rumours spread faster than bush fire prompting comedian Eric Omondi to come to the defence of his younger brother even as Fred fought to salvage his image which was rapidly getting blemished.

Well, Pulse reported that after a few days of investigation by the CID Fred was summoned and asked if he knows one Moses Odhiambo a.k.a. Maleek. Fred said he does know Maleek as a musician and one of his closest friends, whom Fred has been hosting in his house like a brother for years. They also went to the same secondary school— Kisumu Boys High School.

Apparently, Maleek was the rumour mill. He was arrested on Monday April 22 and placed in police custody for 3 days before finally deciding to spill the beans.

While pleading to the two comedian brothers to pardon his distasteful acts, Maleek confessed in the presence of police officers at Nairobi’s Central Police Station saying that evil spirits had directed him to do so.

“I disguised myself as a groupie, claiming to have had a sexual relationship with Fred and then sent it to the Daily Post,” before adding,

“Frankly, I had no ill-motives and did not know these might ruin Fred’s career.”

According to the CID officer handling the case, it was a clear case of impersonation and Maleek would have also faced charges of libel.

“However, our hands were tied when Fred came and requested to withdraw the case on condition that Maleek admits publicly that he was the mastermind behind the scam.”

You can catch Fred Omondi at the iClub’s Comedy Night tonight which he hosts. Check out the details here.
