Oprah Winfrey, Like Obama, Skips Kenya & Heads To Tanzania

American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey reportedly to cancelled a planned trip to Kenya slated for this week. Apparently, the talk show queen was to tour several charity projects in the country at end of the week.

All Africa reports that it’s unclear why the multi-award-winning talk show host cancelled the visit despite that all travel arrangements had been made. Apparently, Oprah is already in Tanzania, on a private trip to the Serengeti.

At the national park, she will be welcomed by the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Mr Lazaro Nyalandu.

“It is going to be Oprah’s private tour,” revealed Pascal Shelutte, the PR manager for Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) which manages Serengeti, the country’s second largest National Park.

Oprah is best known for The Oprah Winfrey Show which was the highest-rated program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011. She has been ranked the richest African-American of the 20th century, the greatest black philanthropist in American history, and was for a time the world’s only black billionaire. She is also, according to some assessments, the most influential woman in the world.

Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama skipped Kenya in his tour of Africa as he opted to visit Tanzania.
