Nonini’s Shockwaves Felt in Australia
Every time the godfather of Genge, Nonini, steps into the studio, wears his headphones and starts spitting into the mic, he crosses his hands and prays for the song to become a hit. Well, his prayers seem to have been answered as his music is being appreciated on another part of the world, miles and miles away from Kenya.
Nonini’s latest song alongside Chris Adwar, Kenya, alongside other three Kenyan songs have been nominated for the inaugural edition of the Radio Afro-Australia Awards 2013 in the African Song of the Year category.
Others are; Party Don’t Stop (Camp Mulla), All In (Camp Mulla ft. Manifest) and Hey Mama by Rap Damu, which have been nominated in the same category.
The Kenyan songs will battle it out against other African songs from some of the greatest African artistes among them Bebe Cool, Dbanj, Fally Ipupa, Liquideep, Ice Prince, P Square, Davido, Mafikizolo, Wizkid and Burna Boy.
