NMG’s CEO Issues Apology for the Lead Photo on Front Page of ‘Sunday Nation’
This morning, KOT went in on Nation Media Group for using a rather disturbing image on the front cover as well as an inappropriate headline on the ‘Sunday Nation’.
The said photo is of an injured woman from Saturday’s Westgate Shopping Mall terrorist attack whose face was swathed with blood and crying in agony.
Most Kenyans took this in bad taste and castigated the leading daily asking the management to retract the image and in its place use another like the one on ‘Sunday Standard’. The KOT even started a TT, #BoycottDailyNation in a bid to push NMG to act.
Similar sentiments were echoed by the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Joseph ole lenku when he visited the upscale mall Sunday afternoon.
Following the public outrage, NMG’s CEO, Linus Gitahi has since issued an apology to the public and the victims of the Westgate attack.
Kenyans, we made a poor judgement on our front page photo today. We sincerely apologize for the hurt caused.

“Kenyans, we made a poor judgement on our front page photo today. We sincerely apologize for the hurt caused.” tweeted Gitahi.
Consequently the paper now bares a different lead image. Take a look;
Last time Gitahi issued an apology someone went home. Who will it be this time?
