NBC Declares Olamide’s Science Student Unfit for Broadcast
The song is banned and prohibited from playing in local stations.
Olamide’s Science Student has been making waves but in a light, different from that which is supposed to be in the singer’s favour.
The song has recently suffered immense criticism as may think that the song is meant to promote drug abuse. Though the singer has spoken out to debunk these claims and even preach against drug abuse, the song has been declared unfit by the National Broadcasting Corporation.
A Not-To-Be-Broadcast (NTTB) warning has been placed on the song.
Tribune reports that the NBC’s Head of Public Affairs Hajia Maimuna Jihada, revealed that the song is banned and prohibited from being played on local stations for public consumption.
“NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast.” She revealed.
She stated that the commission’s action was triggered by the content of the song which promoted illegal use of drugs.
Local music outlets are said to have been served a notice to stop the broadcast of the song.
Olamide in a statement advised that as people are dancing to the song, they should say no to drug abuse. He added that people should stop mixing what they don’t know. Read here.
