Court Orders the Arrest of Actress, Monalisa Chinda, for Tax Evasion
A Lagos State High Court has ordered the arrest of Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda. This is as a result of her failure to pay her tax over a period of six years.
This is coming after the actress was said to have failed to honour a request to appear in court. The request dated 21st of January was said to have been issued by Justice Adedayo Akintoye, who insisted that she must be apprehended.
The defendant has been served with hearing notice. The proof of service is in the court’s file, a statement from the defendant, Y.A Pitan, read.
Monalisa Chinda faces a two counts charge
The allegation against the actress has, however, led to a two counts charge: “failure to furnish and file annual tax returns for the purpose of personal income taxation with the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) contrary to Section 94(1) of the Personal Income Tax Act 2004 (as amended).”
The Nation reports that the warrant for the arrest shall be extended to the month of April.
