Burna Boy Boasts of Writing Drake’s Album Title Song; ‘More Life’
Burna Boy says he didn’t get due credit for the song.
Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer, Burna Boy reveals that he was the brain behind Drake’s song, titled, ‘More Life’.
According to Burna Boy, the song was one of the five songs he submitted to the Cannadian rapper for his ‘More Life’ project.
According to the Nigerian singer, he met Drake in London and their meeting led to working together on the project Drake was working on at the time.
Burna Boy made this revelation at the listening party for his forthcoming album titled “Outside”.
“I worked on 5 new songs for the project, and submitted them all”, he said.
Burna Boy stated that Drake later contacted him to tell him that his song “More Life” has been selected for the project.
Though the song appeared in a totally different form, it went to be the title of the entire album. Sadly the singer didn’t get enough credit for the song. More life was such a success that it that went on to become so huge. It made the top of the Billboard Hot 200 album chart and broke streaming charts.
Burna Boy would later feature on the outro of the album ‘Get it together’, which was a remake of South African DJ, Black Coffee, and Bucie’s 2010 single Superman.
The new version had UK singer Jorja Smith, singing about fixing a strained relationship. Burna Boy’s More life was reworked and sampled at the outro of the record in an almost unrecognizable form.
They told me they had picked it, but when the song came out it was…chopped..” He said.
The dancehall singer disclosed that he has moved on from the episode. The original version of the ‘More Life’ song written by him will however feature in his forthcoming album, “Outside”. The album is set for release on January 26th, 2018.
