The Nigerian Christmas: we can all be Santa
It’s a season of love.
It’s called the most wonderful time of the year for a reason. It is unarguably the most anticipated time of the year.
Christmas, is that special end of the year season that ushers one, irrespective of tongue or creed, into the new year. From the first of January to December, the clock has been set ticking; tic-toc, tic-toc, the year rolls over as everyone go about their businesses. The fear of going to bed hungry is often so immense that one rarely realizes how fast time has flown. Just before you are able to gather yourself, the weather changes and the foggy dew falls on us. Viola! It’s Christmas, another circle has just been completed.
That time of the year, once again falls on us as we all anticipate the holidays, just so we can start the New Year in high spirits, (talk about resolutions).
The activities of Christmas is often so much that Thirty One days is barely ever enough to accommodate our needs. From gunning to catch the best Black Friday Deals, to giving thoughts to fabulous looks, and even praying against tailors that plan to ruin the Christmas vibe (you know what I mean).
Most times, we wonder and whine over why Christmas is no longer as it used to be in the good old days. Those days, when as kids, one steps out in fabulous dresses and accessories, visiting neighbours and enjoying the waves of a very merry Christmas. One wonders what strength maturity has to be such a kill joy.
Just like every other life’s endeavor, man’s needs has tremendous power to change things but just as those needs, man’s will is just as stronger. The will to have merry times will always surpass whatever need bothers the mind.
Let’s be happy together.
It’s Christmas, Hurray! Are you going to continue in that same drab routine or you are willing to make a change? Be a Santa this Christmas, make a difference.
Create a circle, put a smile on someone’s face, just the way Santa puts a smile on a kid’s face, we don’t need too much to be happy this Christmas. Make me smile; I smile, you smile, we smile. Together, our world is happy because it’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Cheers to a happy happy Christmas from all of us at Ghafla!!!!
