Never One To Give Up, Oliech Trades Football For Rugby And Gets National Call Up

Life can take you through many circles and paths but when one persists it finally gets him to the  desired place.

This is exactly the case of Sammy Oliech, a former footballer turned rugby player who has just been handed his first National  Seven’s team call up. For sometime now this call has been seen as long overdue given the fact that the player has been around for sometime ever since he made the switch from football to rugby and the current Impala RFC utility back had already played for the 15s side before getting a a call up from Mike Friday although he never played then.

Current coach Benjamin Ayimba says he will now feature in the next two legs of the HSBC Rugby Seven Series. Kenya will also be boosted by the return of powerful winger Dennis Ombachi who has returned from an injury layoff. The coach made the announcements at a press conference
