Multimedia University student dies after being hit by a tractor in the university
A fourth year university student at MMU has lost her life following a freak accident at the university grounds.
The accident happened on Tuesday this week leaving family members and the student fraternity shocked.
According to sources from the campus, Jackline Kiraithe was walking next to a construction site when a fork lift tractor hit her from behind. The tractor was fully loaded blocking her from the driver’s vision.
Jackline is said to have been wearing headphones making it difficult for her to hear the oncoming tractor.
She was rushed to the Ongata Rongai branch of Nairobi Women’s Hospital in critical condition where she was referred to the main hospital in Hurlingham. It was here that she succumbed to her fatal injuries and passed on.
The driver surrendered himself to the university authorities and he was taken in by the Ongata Rongai police who later transferred him to Karen where he is being held as investigations continue.
Another driver is also being investigated for tampering with a crime scene. The second driver had moved the tractor forklift involved from the scene after the incident.
The student organization has ruled any protests as they believe significant investigations are underway and instead have pledged to join the family as they mourn their daughter while awaiting the police reports.
