MP Allegedly Subjects A Journalist To Forceful HIV Test And Rapes Her Afterwards

It seems 2015 is the year for Kenyan legislators. After the Juja MP, Francis Waititu, scandal where he is accused of firing an employee after refusing to give in to his sexual advances, Imenti Central MP is a man under siege after he was accused of raping a former journalist after subjecting her into a forceful HIV test.

Mr. Gideon Mwiti is under investigation after allegations of the ordeal surfaced. The MP is accused of raping the former journalist in his office at Westlands where he had invited her for a meeting on Saturday evening.

It is alleged that the MP lured the former journalist-turned-PR practitioner with a business deal. The MP had rescheduled the meeting from 5 pm to 10 pm.

The victim says in a police report at Parklands Police Station where she reported the matter that it was at the legislator’s office that she was subjected to a HIV/Aids test after which the MP beat her and raped her when the results came out negative.

The victim’s husband also said that he received a distress call from her wife at midnight telling him what had happened as she locked herself in the latrine.

Mr. Mwiti has, however, refuted the allegations saying that he had a meeting with the victim between 5 and 7 pm and that he did not do the things he is being accused of.

He says that the PR practitioner does some public relations project for him and there is no way he could do such a thing.

The victim checked in at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital where doctors say she is recuperating.
