Gone are the days when you will only hear of political leaders’ families only in funerals or when they decide to ‘succeed’ their parents or husbands in political seats.

Nowadays, several of the leading Kenyan politicians have wives and children who are part of their image and public life. They portray and even set an example as humanely as they can of a happy loving family. It is common to see holidaying photos all over the internet nowadays.

Two leading examples of this new turn in politicians’ lifestyles are Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and the Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. While Mutua and his wife were out in the Maldives celebrating her belated birthday, Mike Sonko took time with his better half  to go experience of the Kenyan coast and by the look of things, they surely had a splendid time.
