Mercy D Lai Nominated For Groove Awards’ Female Artist Of The Year!
If you’re an avid gospel music fan, then you are keeping abreast with Groove awards nominations news. Have you heard of Mercy D Lai? She got not one but tow nominations, and because I am from Mombasa, I have to support my own!
Mercy D Lai describes herself as a born again Christian, God-fearing wife, mother, and a gospel minister through music. She reiterates that she loves the Lord with all that is within her. Born in 1985 to a young couple Mr and Mrs Nicholas Nzuve living in Kibwezi, she grew up in a small Village called Nzembete Ngwata Machinery town.
She discovered her musical gifting in sunday school.Throughout her childhood, all through high school, she participated actively in Music. Music Festivals as a student at St Josephs high school kibwezi, fanned the flame where she was a notable soloist. She went to Nairobi Institute of Business studies (NIBS) for her college education. While in college, she was part of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s JIAM. During that period, 2004-2006, she served in JIAM’s voices of Glory choir.
In 2008 She got hitched to Pastor Wlfred Lai’s son, and is now a mother of two adorable children. She decied to return to her musical roots by joining the JCC Choir Mombasa in 2009. That culminated in her debut album Ebenezer released in 2011. She has a sophomore album released this year called Jina lenye nguvu Album released 2013.
