You all know that when it comes to mega structures, the Arabs are killing the game with world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa and 3rd tallest hotel in the world Burj al-Arab.
Now they are making news again with a new hotel in Mecca which is probably one of their loftiest dreams yet.
Abraj Kudai
Easily outshining the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, the new hotel, Abraj Kudai is expected to be the biggest hotel in the world by 2017.Located in Islam’s holiest city, Mecca, Abraj Kudai is expected to house the high-browed and affluent Muslims during next year’s Hajj (annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca).
Located strategically 2 kilometers from the Masjid al-Haram, the holy mosque of Mecca, the Disney-like hotel boasts of 12 different towers, up to 10, 000 rooms, 70 restaurants, several helipads and a full-size convention centre.
The 3.5 Billion dollar mega-hotel was funded by Saudi Ministry of Finance, designed by the architectural firm Dar Al-Handasah and will occupy 1.4 million square meters of the Saudi Arabian landscape.
