Meet One of Kenya’s Prolific Radio Football Commentators

They come in handy when you can’t watch your favourite football team play live but you have a radio/phone by your side. They bring you up to speed with the latest from international, national, regional and local football as well as analyse ongoing upcoming football season.

One of those guys is Citizen Radio’s Geoffrey Mwamburi aka “Beki wa Kupanda na Kushuka”.

It is without doubt that any soccer fan in Kenya knows this young and fast-rising Swahili radio football commentator.

Ever since he joined Royal Media’s Radio Citizen Sports team of “Mzee wa Kazi” Mohamed Juma Njuguna, “Nguvu Mpya” Kaka Zema and Philip Muchiri, radio soccer commentary has gone a notch higher.

That is why we sought to meet ‘Beki’ and introduce him for the first time.

Only in his early 20s he has won the hearts of many football fanatics through his fast pace coupled with an outstanding voice, light anecdotes and deep Swahili that enables him give on point commentary that paints a clear picture of what happens in the field whenever you turn your radio on during a live match commentary.

Beki previously worked for Sifa FM Voi and Pwani FM in the Coast.
