Mdundo Gives Artistes Kshs. 3.8 Million Worth of Scratch Cards
Mdundo is a new service that allows users to download music using scratch cards. Mdundo’s aim is to be premier mobile music platform in Kenya with their unique system of selling music scratch cards.
During the course of last week Mdundo handed out music scratch cards to 38 of its artists, a total of 38,000 cards. This translates to a street value of Kshs. 3.8 million.
This is a new way for artists to make money from their music. Mdundo will also sell on the artists behalf via mdundo.com using mobile money and via generic scratch-cards in outlets, that is how we will it is building a business.
The initiative is a great idea in that: 1) It enables artists to instantly make cash. 2) It shows how Kenyan Internet startups are revolutionizing the industry with new avenues of distribution and innovation.
